SA7 - Sundays 7pm - streamed available online via Facebook or YouTube.
This is an "Owned Contemporary Worship Community" for younger people (ages 13-60+) and those longing to encounter God through preaching, worship and responding to the movement of the Holy Spirit.
SCOUTS - Meets weekly on Fridays from 7.15-9pm on Zoom and outside in different locations when restrictions allow
The 29th Purley Scouts (and Purley Cross Explorers) are based at Purley Baptist Church, and are continuing to meet weekly. PBC sponsor our group and section leaders are members of PBC. We offer 101/2 to 18-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and skills for life, helping young adults to reach their full potential, get jobs, save lives and even change the world. More information here.
UNDERGROUND - meets fortnightly on Zoom: Thursdays 7pm on for chat, talks and discussion
Underground is for School Years 9+. It has a varied programme where we spend time together socially and also learn more about who Jesus is. We have a number of different sessions:
Mind the Gap is where we talk about issues in our daily lives and how these can affect us and people around us. We look at what the Bible says about some of these issues and think about what our response should be. |
Stay on Track is a session where we explore a Bible passage and see what impact it can have on our lives. Before Covid-19 we also had sessions that included Movie Night, Toasties and Questions, Prayer Night and Christmas Story. We hope to resume themed sessions once the pandemic restrictions are lifted. |
VIBE & BIG PICTURE – meeting together on Zoom: Sundays 11am
Vibe is for girls in School Years 9-13. It is an opportunity to learn, share and discover together what it means to follow Jesus more deeply and to ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength’.
Big Picture is for boys in School Years 9-13. It is an opportunity to discover ‘The Big Picture’ of what it means to follow Jesus. Using video clips, games and discussion, we look at different issues that affect young men and God’s perspective on these situations. In normal times,
UNITY - Meets regularly on Zoom for support, prayer and fun together, also encouragement and mini videos via a WhatsApp group. Unity is for university students - freshers, second year, on placement or stressing over your dissertation - Unity is here to offer support. It consists of three main strands:
-
Gathering – Opportunity to meet up to worship, talk, pray, share, support during the term breaks
-
Network – This is where you will receive regular messages of encouragement and prayer support. Also an opportunity to let the youth team and other students know what is going on with you. A lot of interaction happens on the Unity Facebook Group.
-
Adoption – A PBC church member will commit to pray for an individual student every day.

GET INVOLVED
There are lots of amazing people who help run this wide variety of activities for a diverse group of young people. All our leaders have been checked through the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS), worship regularly at PBC and the majority are also members of PBC. We are always pleased when more people want to get involved. Some roles require leadership training while others draw on existing skills. If you are interested in exploring the opportunities and options available please contact Mark Humm.
