Before opening (8th October 2002), the building underwent some refurbishment work, the offices on the first and second floor having been left empty for a number of years with a leaking roof. This damaged the interior quite extensively, which also required rewiring. On the ground floor, the shop has been overhauled and redecorated. Apart from the electrical work and the roof repair, most of the work was carried out by Church members in their own time.
