Overseas Mission

Danny Crowther

Danny Suzanne David and Callum went to Indonesia in 2001 and have been doing language study. Danny now works as a bible college lecturer.

Update: May 2007
The Crowthers have been away from the UK for 11 months, which have been action-packed. The family said goodbye to a co-worker in March and are now the only long-term OMF people in Bandung (a city of five million in the tropics at 3,000-4,000 feet above sea level). One of their key responsibilities is for new workers who go through Bandung, the premier location for language learning. In April they reached a total of 13 new language learners plus a number of children. They have also played host to a succession of guests including the current head of the European Evangelical Alliance. A flavour of their life can be gained from a quote from one of their emails: discussing changing the world in the torrential rain with a group of Australians flanked by two smoking volcano craters.

Emily Chalke

Emily is working with NightLight, through the BMS, in Bangkok.

There are thousands of women on sale to men in the bars and they are often trapped or trafficked into their work and are desperate for way out.

Nightlight staff go into the bars and talk to the women but they also talk to the male customers, many of whom are from the West. They also run a jewellery making business so the women can begin to earn a living a different way and leave behind the horror of their past life. The day begins with worship and all of the women come along to this and some have found Christ and therefore true freedom
