As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another,
as good stewards of God's varied grace'
-1 Peter 4:10
At Purley Baptist, we believe that gathered/corporate worship is important for meeting with the Lord, and we encourage one another in this as far as possible.
'the peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship the LORD'-Psalm 102:22
'for where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them'-Matt 18:20
“Gathered worship excites me because it is just beautiful how it unites people. No matter who you are or where you've come from etc. we all stand and sing the same words, at the same time, in the same place, worshipping the same God. It's wonderful and uplifting!”-Meryl
The Worship Team
We currently have 47 worship team members. Musicians are assigned to a particular service(s) and band leader(s) based on preference, style, and to facilitate the growth of relationships and musicianship. Between us, we play for the Sunday services, weekly services and any special events.
|We run on a quarterly timeplan in which to organise things, as this simple chart shows:||
CDs of Quarter 4, 2013
Each 3-month Quarter has 4 main elements:
1. CD of the Quarter
Every quarter, we introduce a commercial CD to our church to enrich personal and gathered worship.
2. Enter away dates
Musicians need to enter, into our online co-ordinating system, any dates in the forthcoming quarter on which they cannot play.
3. Release Rota
Once the rota has been compiled, it is published to all band members to accept/decline any dates. Our online system also provides access to playlists to listen to songs in any key with the tabs and lyrics.
Our choice for congregational and personal worship:
Your Grace Finds Me by Matt Redman
"This album is full of anthemic songs that will lead you to chanting the choruses and bridges at the top of your lungs!"-Matt Rolfe
Hymns for the Christian Life by Keith & Kristyn Getty
"If you like easy listening uplifting biblical songs, this album is for you" - Gill Murphy
"A beautifully rich, mellow and uplifting album that neatly bridges between traditional and modern hymns"-Meryl Ching

We are trially running workshops based on particular needs. These are to aid development in musicianship and worship, and an opportunity for team members to fellowship with one another.
We have recently created 6 instrument groups (Bass, Drums, Guitar, Piano, Violin & Flute, and Vocals) to facilitate our growing such as through sharing tips, asking for advice, and getting together to encourage and teach one another.
