Interest Groups

Many people meet together at church to learn new skills or continue to practise their specialised interest. The following groups meet regularly.

Art Club
Thursdays 1.45pm (term time only)

This is for those who enjoy painting with watercolours and would like to spend time developing their skills with other like-minded people. All skill levels are welcome. We've found opur time painting alongside other people to be very beneficial. Exchanging ideas and experience often means individuals are able to improve their skills at a faster pace than simply painting on your own.

Knitwits
Mondays 9.30 - 11.30am
£1 a week includes refreshments

All standards of knitters are welcome. This is for anyone who likes to knit, natter and drink coffee. And if you can't yet knit, we're happy to show you. We'll even lend you kitting needles, wool and patterns to begin with. You can knit anything - for yourself, friends, family or charity.

Tennis Club

Purley Baptist Church Tennis Club provides a place for people to play tennis and enjoy fellowship. The club has over 50 playing members, many from the church, but also some from other local churches. We meet at the St Davids School Grounds in Woodcote Valley Road, Purley. The club caters for all abilities. Families and children are also very welcome.

Play takes place most Summer evenings, all day on Saturdays (afternoon Social being especially popular), most Sunday afternoons and on Bank Holidays. Evening group coaching is scheduled in the summer. Tournaments are run throughout the summer, including American Tournaments, the Club Championships and a Family Cup. During the Winter there are fixed fours on Saturday mornings and some play during the day.

We have an active social committee and various events throughout the year. The New Year Party, Progressive Supper and Finals Day Meal are some of the highlights.

Bring your own racquet, we provide balls. Predominanty white clothing please.
